The DeZi Network builds diagnostics, genomic surveillance and training across 20+ partner countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas — to improve detection and response as mosquito-borne viral epidemics escalate under climate change.

Research

Our four work packages form an integrated approach that links diagnostics, genomics, and capacity strengthening to generate actionable evidence and lasting public health impact.

Arbovirus serology

Developing and implementing local capacity to deploy high‑specificity serological assays to reconstruct past exposure and population‑level immunity to dengue and Zika.

Molecular diagnostics

Improving and validating molecular diagnostics to enable on-site timely, accurate detection of dengue, Zika and other arboviruses in endemic settings.

Arbovirus genomics

Integrating real‑time on-site genomic sequencing and analysis to track virus evolution, transmission, and outbreak dynamics.

Capacity strengthening

Building sustainable laboratory, analytical, and leadership capacity through training, technology transfer, and long‑term partnerships.

The DeZi Network is committed to sharing data and tools that are openly shared, well-documented, and reproducible across countries.

These toolkits are updated regularly and are the ones we use, contribute to, and recommend to partner labs — covering the full surveillance arc from primer design and sequencing on a laptop through lineage tracking and seroprevalence to provide model-based transmission risk maps.
